I met Niki when I was in middile school because I was very good friends with Hailey, her sister. Everytime I was around her I always had a good time, and I loved her because Hailey loved her so much. She was a very strong person, and I will remember her always.

After working with Nickie's mother for years, and meeting the girls,I found out about Nickie's cancer.I was determined to see her through. My wife is a cancer surviver amd I had no doubt that Nickie would beat hers as well.I made a vow to visit her in the hospital during each treatment to cheer her up.Boy was I wrong, It quickly became apparent that I was the one being cheered up. Each visit I was enriched by her resolve and humor. She never complained or cried about how unfair life was. She just lived her life one day at a time, taking advantage of opportunities as they arose. She told me after a hospital stay, she went to Tybee to walk in the surf digging her toes in the sand. She told how beautiful it all was, and how much she appreciated life. I am just realizing how much she gave me. In her short life, she made me see things I never understood or saw.So Nickie, wherever you are up there,THANKS. I don't feel aches and pains anymore, and each day the sun shines a little brighter.I can't wait to go to the beach and dig my toes into the sand.

I met Niki once, and in that short time period of being in her presense, she gave off such a kind, positive energy. She seemed to be such a sweet girl and I know how dearly her family & friends cared about her.
